There will soon be two opportunities to participate in Community Gardens in Redwood City.
The Kainos garden is located at a group home near Red Morton Park. Five young men who are developmentally disabled, yet high-functioning, live there and would like to participate in some of the gardening activities. There will be a combination of individual and co-operative plots but all gardeners should feel comfortable interacting with them and inviting them to participate. Kainos requests that gardeners share some of their crops with them. If this speaks to you, please complete the Community Gardening Survey and make a note about the Kainos garden in the “Comments” section. The garden can probably accommodate 5-7 gardeners.
The Whole Foods Garden will be located at the Jefferson/Adams corner of Whole Foods Market in Redwood City. Incredible Edible is still conferring with Whole Foods as to the type of garden and who the participants will be; it will definitely be cooperative and produce will be available for the public to harvest. There will be a Community Gardening Day at the garden on September 24, 2017 with details to follow. Meantime, support Incredible Edible Mid-Peninsula by bringing your re-usable shopping bag to Whole Foods and donating your bag refund to support our organization!
